STEM centre underway for Clonard College

Rendine Constructions is well underway on delivering a striking new STEM centre of excellence for Geelong-based Catholic secondary school, Clonard College.

Behind what will be a distinctive curving façade, the centre will house a total of eight interior classrooms over two levels, plus a large outdoor learning space located on the top floor. The classrooms will overlook a light-filled entry area thanks to a north-facing panel of floor-to-ceiling windows, while many classrooms are being fitted with specialised fixtures including sinks and fume cupboards to accommodate their purpose for science-based learning.

Key to the construction are concrete floor slabs for both levels, plus the use of precast concrete wall panels. Under the guidance of the master plan prepared by CHT Architects, many of the concrete wall panels will be finished in distinctive patterns that will contribute to the centre’s overall aesthetic appeal.

The project will be completed by integrated landscaping, curved bench seating at the front, and a full-width timber deck

at the rear.

The first sod was turned at the site in June 2023, and the centre is scheduled for handover to the Herne Hill school in

September 2024.
